Statement for Potential Memory

I have recently felt torn between creating lasting objects and creating inspiring experiences. As a theater artisan and a classically trained painter, mediums often compete for my attention. Potential Memory is a group of objects that can be both paintings and, for brief periods of time, experiences.

These may or may not be finished works. Do we leave the painting alone and savor the current view or do we relight it and briefly enjoy it’s glowing and dripping beauty? Do we choose a new moment to blow out the candles or do we let the entire painting melt away and experience all the painting has to give, leaving only a frame?
